Project Description

A basement conversion was created for our clients to provide a spacious and much more usable home, ideal for their family lifestyle and entertaining. Glass floors were installed throughout the home to bring interest to internal spaces, introducing borrowed light and views to a building that would otherwise be hidden. A cosy cinema with soundproof walls and ceiling together with highly advanced lighting, handmade sliding doors and shutters created a real-life cinema experience. A hidden utility room was also created from a handmade feature shelved wall on the outside. No fixture or fitting went without thought, even the concrete plinth that houses the feature surrounded fireplace on the ground floor was handmade and polished.

‘The house works magnificently. I occasionally sat and wondered about the logic or madness of building and whether we’ve done the right thing or not. However, a gathering of family or friends is all that’s needed for those thoughts to evaporate. It’s been so worthwhile. We’re sharply aware, though, it’s only been possible with a lot of hard work. Although I suspect its’ the care, dedication, love or compulsive obsession for the details an execution that made this project come together.’
